Umpire Betele

We are happy to announce that Master Hallgeir Betele will join us for this years Boost Camp.

Master Hallgeir Betele started training taekwondo in 1981 and holds an 8th Degree black belt. In addition to establishing Christiania taekwon-do club, where he is the main instructor today, he has helped establish both Marvik and Porsgrunn taekwon-do clubs, as well as being instrumental in the start-up of Skien and Lunde taekwon-do clubs in recent years. Master Betele is an examiner for several clubs in eastern Norway with over 1,000 members. His aim with any training can be summed up with TTW; Taekwondo (we'll learn taekwon-do), Training (we'll get tired) and Wellbeing (we'll have fun!)

In addition to closely monitoring his clubs, Master Betele is also the founder of a summer camp in Langesund and a winter camp on Gran Canaria, which are organized every year first week of january.

Master Betele has experience as both a competitor, coach and leader at national team level, and is a well-known figure also in the refereeing environment internationally, where he is an umpire during, for example, the World Cup and European Championship.
In other words, he has been of great importance to the taekwon-do family both regionally, nationally and internationally, and is always cheerful, up-to-date, knowledgeable and willingly stands up for taekwon-do. As examiner and mentor for LundeTaekwon-do club, it is natural that Master Betele joins and helps us during our Boost Camp event, together with other instructors that we invite. As a very experienced judge and with an eye for detail, this year Master Betele will take care of a session aimed at judging during competitions. This will be very useful for athletes who want more in-depth knowledge of what the most experienced judges judge by, both in pattern and sparring. Not least, we hope this will be a great session for those of you who are already referees and want to learn more, or those of you who are soon thinking of taking a refereeing course. In any case, this will be an interesting session with room for discussion, as situations can be perceived differently from judge to judge.

An instructor course 1 will also be set up during Boost Camp, which Master Betele will hold. In the start-up year of Boost Camp in 2021, Master Betele contributed with technical training and self-defense. In 2023, he completed grade-oriented training. We are looking forward to this year's Boost Camp and his sessions
